Photography Services FAQ

Bayside Photography wants you to have the best experience possible before, during, and after your session. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers. If you have a question that is not covered below, please send us a message and we will respond ASAP.

Q:  Where are you located?

A: Bayside Design and Photography is located in Panama City Beach, Florida. Although we service most of the Florida panhandle and are available to travel as well!

Q:  Do you have a studio?

A: Yes! The home studio is located on the west end of Panama City Beach.

Q:  When is the best time of day to schedule an outdoor session?

A: The best time of day to schedule outdoor sessions is a couple of hours following sunrise or an hour before sunset. I offer sessions at other times during the day, but these time frames tend to produce the best colors, and light and ensure no harsh shadows or squinting.

Q:  Where will my session take place and what can I expect before, during, and after the session?

A: The session can take place in the studio, outdoors on-location, and in some cases in your home for lifestyle sessions.

During the session, you relax! Some of the best shots are people just simply being themselves! You laugh, smile, and have fun! It’s not always about taking a picture, but having someone capture you and your family making memories, laughing, playing together, and understanding that the perfect shot may not be posed.

After, you can check our blog posts and social media for sneak peeks, usually a few days after the shoot. Be sure to follow/like us on social media so you can be tagged. Then you receive an email with a link to your gallery when they are ready to be viewed.  From there you can sign in and view your gallery, download images, purchase wall art, digital images, canvas, or albums.

Another option is a reveal session. You will meet up with the photographer and go over everything in person, this way you can view samples of some different products before you purchase prints.

Q:  What should I wear to the session?

A: We will discuss this in more detail and pertain more to your session after you book, but here are a few quick tips, Dress in layers, Florida, and crazy temperature changes. Add a sweater or a scarf in cooler months, Men can wear nice button-up shirts with something solid-colored matching underneath, or a light jacket over a solid-colored shirt. It’s best to not choose clothing with logos, bright neon colors, patterns, or chevron prints. Another sometimes unflattering wardrobe choice is to have everyone match. Although this can look great if done strategically, an example would be mother and daughter or sisters in an exact matching dress from the same store. This looks great! Let’s put everyone in the same colored shirt and we sometimes end up with tons of different shades of that color and it doesn’t look good in the final image. You can add hats, belts, jewelry, or boots! Please! Please! Please iron your clothes and put them on a hanger to avoid wrinkles. Top tip, You do you, wear something that matches your personality! It’s so important to wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable.

Q:  What if someone gets sick or we have an emergency?

A: Please do not come to your session sick! If I am sick, I will call you ASAP to reschedule. I wouldn’t want to infect you or your family! Please do the same for me! I sometimes work with newborns and would prefer to not be exposed to any illness if at all possible. If you show up at the and I believe you or your child is sick and you come anyway, I reserve the right to refuse service. Call me as soon as possible if you or your child is sick. If you must reschedule/cancel your session due to sickness or other personal emergency do this as soon as possible! Rescheduling is done on a case-by-case basis. No-show notice or several reschedules will result in the loss of your session fees, and another session fee payment will be required to hold your new date

Q:  Does Bayside offer a military discount?

A: Bayside Design and Photography loves and supports our military. We offer a 10% discount for the military. Please mention at the time of booking.

Q:  How do I prepare for a newborn session?

A: Newborns are unpredictable. Please do not worry about your baby crying or stopping to feed during the session. Newborn sessions take longer than most to allow for lots of breaks. Please keep your baby awake as much as possible before the session, and feed your baby right before the session. Sleepy newborns with a full tummy will be relaxed for their session. Newborn sessions are anywhere from 2-4 hours long. Sometimes we finish earlier and sometimes later. It all depends on how your baby is feeling that day. You may want to keep the rest of the day appointment free if possible. Bring extra clothes for both of you as babies do pee & poop and accidents happen. I have spare washable wraps and backdrops, so please don’t stress about that happening. Please bring extra formula or breast milk. If you have other children I prefer they not stay for the entire shoot. Newborn sessions concentrate on the new baby and it takes patience and quiet to keep a newborn asleep and get great images. I photograph siblings at the beginning of each session and then have them leave as they get bored and restless. It tends to feel pretty warm in the room so the baby can be as comfortable as possible.

Q:  Do you shoot with an assistant or a second photographer?

A: Occasionally a second photographer will join our session either for training purposes or if needed. Depending on the type of session there may be an assistant or a second photographer that is included in your package. If you would like to add a second photographer to your session, there is an additional fee.

Q:  What is the turnaround time for my gallery to be ready?

A: Turnaround time for your final edited images will be no longer than 3 weeks from your session date unless discussed ahead of time for special circumstances or weddings.

Q:  Do you offer photo retouching?

A: Yes! Basic touch-ups are included in your session price. We will consult you before the session starts to obtain information on your desired amount of touch-ups for your session images. Additional editing is possible for a fee. Each image can be edited to address: hair out of place, lint, dirt, acne, stains on clothing, etc.

Q:  Do you offer the unedited images?

A: No. This is not an option. We spend a lot of time during the session to ensure we are getting several angels for each shot. We then spend our time finding the most flattering of the bunch. We do the digging, so you only see your best photos.

Q:  Do you offer physical prints from my session?

A: Yes! Currently, we offer physical print orders directly through your gallery or you can place an order in person. A USB flash drive can be made for you with all your final purchased images and mailed to you for $35.

Q:  Do I get a print release?

A: Yes! All sessions will get a photographer-signed print release for personal use only.

Q:  Do you want me to tag you if I post on social media?

A: Yes, PLEASE! We greatly appreciate it when our clients tag our work when posting to social media. Here are the social links.

Q:  Do you require an agreement & deposit upon booking a session?

A: Yes. All booked sessions do require a signed agreement that allows us to use your images for advertising and a $50 non-refundable (in most cases) reservation fee to hold your session date & time. The remaining balance is due on your session date.

Q:  What if I need to reschedule my session date due to a personal reason?

A: No worries! We understand that life happens, and things come up! We will work together to come up with an alternative session date & time that works for you. Your $50 deposit is non-refundable, however, if a refund is needed due to some life circumstances (death or illness, etc.) this will be decided on a case by case instance. (Our sessions are my families livelihood, and we appreciate your understanding of this policy)

Q:  What if we have booked a session while on vacation and the weather is bad the whole time?

A: Locals will be rescheduled for weather at our discretion. For out-of-town guests, we hope you will have at least one day of ideal weather; however, even if the weather does not look promising, we will keep your scheduled appointment and work within the confines of the weather. Remember, there is a lot we can do during the editing process of your photos to warm them up, enhance sunsets, lighting, etc. If, after the scheduled session, a day of great weather pops up before you leave town there may be a chance at a reshoot. We want you to have the best photos possible. Alternatively, our studio is available during bad weather and can be used if circumstances permit. Refunds for severe weather are at our discretion.

Q:  Do you make backups of the photos you take?

A: We keep a spare backup of your session images for 90 days from your session date. Your gallery with the final images will be accessible to you for 60 days after your session.

Q:  Do you have liability insurance?
